Friday at the Luau

So anyway, it's really nasty warm day --- which is good, I suppose I shouldn't complain because national news is running stories about how in the eastern portion of our nation, they're waiting for summer to begin ---go figure

Today begins the all-out eatfest here in Honolulu as the annual Easter Seals Taste of Honolulu is going on near City Hall --- we shall go attend and report, hard gig ... ha

The other thing is, this is HULK weekend, isn't it --- I suppose I should get more excited as this was one of my more favorite characters in the Marvel universe --- will report if we go see it this weekend

The other thing is this issue that has baffled me for maybe three years or so. Some people think that you should choose between Iron Maiden or Metallica.

Having listened to IM for twenty one years now, and Met for nineteen, it' s not a choice for me --- it's not a choice between who is better --- it's not a choice between who is more metal (I never found those conversations to be productive in the past 20 years, so why should it be now) --- it's not a choice between who makes better music --- in fact, choosing one over the other does not seem to indicate who carries the banner of metal, and who does not

I never have seen it as a choice. It's been clear through time that these two really are among my most favorite five bands to listen to. And if you've been reading with us for a while, you know that Iron Maiden has two spaces in my top 10 favorite albums of all time --- For me, it's not a choice, both bands have stood the test of time, both bands still hold my interest, whether they remain basically the same or they evolve and change --- it's not a choice for me, but I respect your choices to choose --- even though personally I view that as unnecessarily diminishing your musical options

On that rambling note, we say enjoy the weekend, and enjoy your band of choice
