Well, I missed V3 again on Sunday -- this is turning into a trend
I guess it may just be that I will just buy the DVDs when they come out in 2013 ... ha
Work was pretty slow today -- I was desperately trying to find things to do to keep from getting totally bored out of my mind
Other observations:
Why is VH releasing a 2CD best of package -- this does absolutely nothing for a long time fan like me (ADDS NADA TO THE EQUATION) -- wow, 3 tracks for 25+ bucks, what a bargain for me ... NOTT -- new single this Wed on the radio (oh stop the anticipation before it puts me further to sleep ...ZZZZZZZZZZ)
Why do bands decide to call it a reunion and then exclude members -- like KISS, which is 2 of 4 -- and Black Sabbath which will tour this summer without Bill on drums -- I don't get it
Oh yeah, and I found in my emailbox a note from KISS about instant concerts -- apparently they seem to want to pull a Metallica and sell shows to the fans -- it's all about the money with KI-- these days
And check here for a humorous cartoon about the revolving door fronting VH
Nice Guy
And if you go to Melodic Rock, you can listen to some new VH ... well about 90 secs worth ... Yes, we did wait this long for that
You know what I think the recording companies are not concerned about -- with establishing bands -- is nostalgia touring because they dont make any money off of it
so really it is left to the artist and their mgmt to figure out how best to tap into the nostalgia tour market -- obviously KISS and the Stones do it the best
But obviously this has nothing to do with being relevant -- and I think that this is the source of complaints among established bands -- not enough promotion
It's a catch-22 but what are you going to do? promote an irrelevant band to the "singles/iTunes" crowd -- no youre not, but that leaves the established fan base hella alienated
my friend Wes is a die hard VH fan. He got tickets to see them in Vegas already. crazzzyyyy! I too would go see them in concert again just to see if someone can REALLY go cold turkey from drinking and cocaine and still play guitar.
in this Avril/Evanescence/flavor of the month band VH's has become either the strange circus act or that old senior citizen that is taking too long to get out of a parking space you want.
The whole thing just smacks of being bungled
It's not like VH is in anyway relevant any more -- and a recent poll at KNAC.com seemed to confirm it -- when asked whether people cared whether VH was reunited with Sam, the vast majority said I dont care anymore
So what do they do for the people that do care -- umm, attach 3 tracks to a double CD that has stuff that most fans already have in some form or other
Is there stuff in the can? with Dave? with Sam? with Dave and Sam --- the fact of the matter is, it's hard for me to care at this point -- but I would go see them live, I suppose
whoa. melrose place. i am ashamed to say i remember that. There aren't any shows on tv like that anymore... notice that?
yep. last i remember VH got no radio play but still sold considerably. i mean what do they want really??? They do nothing to appease fans who are hungry for news for six years. The only thing said is that "they got music in the can and it will be released "soon". Then the Roth thing.... is he in or out? in or out?? Then they bring Sam back but then say nothing but a press release. Then they do nothing to capitalize on the momentum of him being in the band. Now they want to remix a song so its radio friendly???
Well i dunno. I listened to it and Im not impressed. I mean.. this is not VanHalen Classic or VanHalen with Sam... its something odd.
from what I've read, they remixed the track so that it would get radio play -- are they on crack???? when was the last time you remember VH getting radio play -- honestly I think it was during their cross promotion getting their song Can't Stop Loving You on Melrose Place -- firken MP!!! that's about 10 years ago
I just don't get it -- alot of these "commercially dead" artists do rarity, out-of-print, vault stuff -- ORRRR -- they just write the music their fan base will buy up -- I have now heard the whole song, it's garbage, and it's neither stuff the hardcore would like or commercial radio -- what a f'n goof out the door
a few things i'd like: EVH's full soundtrack to The Wild Life. I have a tape (somewhere) that i took off the VHS when it came to video. In it you can hear Donut City (the only track that he wrote to appear on the "real" soundtrack album), the beginnings of 5150, the beginnings of Good Enuff and lots of just Ed playing noodles to different scenes. of course this tape has people talking over it but for me that was how bad i wanted EVH stuff at the time.
I would settle for unreleased Gary stuff... VH0 stuff, original lineup LIVE stuff ANYTHING WITH DAVE DAMMIT!!!!
don't waste my time. man did you hear the new track? wtf? sound kinda garbage to me. What happened to Sammys Voice??
you know, that's what I was thinking -- why cant they just do a new album or give me box of rarities
i would pay money if they released stuff that I want. all this 2 cd collection is gonna do is make my already full cd shelf fall over. i dont need more greatest hits i want unreleased stuff.
