Ok, 10:30 at night 78% Humidity -- this is ridiculous
We watched the N/T episode from Tuesday night -- it was very good again. However, I get this feeling that they will eventually paint themselves into a corner by creating situations that will melt down the overall cohesiveness of the show -- but then again, what do I know?
I said I might talk a bit about The Village, well it's a bit too hot to think right now, so here are a few impressions.
1. The trailer and marketing give a very different impression than the movie itself -- in other words, it's not quite as scary as it's teased to be.
2. The all-star cast really doesn't have much to work with in terms of dialogue -- I don't know if creepy characters in a creepy situation is enough to move a movie -- Manoj sure tried it. Even though I liked the movie very much, it was like driving a Ferrari in 2nd gear -- all the talent for him to use, yet so little gleaned from it -- I mean, William Hurt, Sigourney Weaver, the guy from The Pianist, Joaquin Phoenix (who seems to only frown in M's movies) -- the horses were all there
3. It's a very simple tale that takes an unexpected turn at the end -- that's not saying much, but I beleive it is an accurate description -- the joy of MNS movies is that he sucks the viewer in with atmosphere and situations, and creates life-like feeling -- I think if you go along for the ride, it's a fun distraction for two hours (no more, no less)
4. The last point is one of personal observation -- as a person, do you like to be in on the joke? or when the joke is on you, do you go -- no that's stupid the joke couldn't be on me -- or do you go ah, i get it -- ok, you got me
Just impressions.
