A few things

Later P.M

I almost forgot that Metallica was going to be on Jane Pauley today -- I just can't believe how much has changed that Met can now go on a talk show oriented for women -- They promoted the Some Kind of Monster documentary (which at last check will open in Hawaii in the first week of December at the Academy of Arts)

It's just really interesting to see how this band that I've followed now for 20 years has evolved from the worst kept secret in the metal underground -- to the top of the world with the Black Album -- to the turmoil 3 years ago that nearly broke up the band for good -- to now, stronger than ever with Rob and the three mainstays

Metallica on daytime TV who'd have thunk it -- not me
(ed note: well, it was at 9 pm our time, delayed due to the debates)

P.M. Entry

Well, the Bombers locked up their 7th consecutive division crown today, ensured a third straight 100 win season, and broke the team's single season total HR record -- It's kind of amazing how much criticism this team has received this year, given what the hard numbers say

Saw the debate this afternoon and it focused on national security, homeland security and foreign policy. Thought JK did well to keep it short and focused -- I am more and more surprised that he looks presidential -- as much as I am pulling for him, it didn't look like he came away with a tide turning or dominant performance

I thought El Busho seemed very defensive at times, on the CNN cut screens there were times when he looked flustered and annoyed with Kerry's statements -- he did stick to his message -- you know, Enemy Enemy, 9/11 9/11, war is hard work, you can't be commander in chief if you give mixed messages -- I didn't think he did great, he did decent enough -- I think he missed an opportunity to put JK away -- and I don't think either of them swayed any undecideds

A.M. Entry

I got to find out where the cool eating places are in Kalihi as the wonderful planners at SDOT decided to shut down some ramps and do construction on the freeway ... DURING THE DAY -- I don't know what they think is a non-peak hour when you make a ton of cars get gridlocked on School Street, morons

I guess I was just lucky because when I went to go pick up my grilled chicken sub for lunch ... they decided to close off the escalator, and make tons of people wait for the slowest elevator in Hawaii - it's been that kind of day so far

Well, the first debate is on tonight between El Busho and JK live from the U ... I think it's prime time for the EC ... so that means 3-5 pm here in paradise (the only station that has it delayed in Hawaii is PBS/Channel 11 at 9 pm tonight) -- we urge all our readers to take some time today and watch, and see what direction both of these candidates would like to take our country for the near future
