Do Too Much

Gets real stupid --

I recall a time six years ago where I went to see Eric Koyanagi's hundred percent at the Signature Highlands theatres during the HIFF

I didn't have tickets, I waited in a clearly marked line -- they let us in, I bought my ticket -- sat down and enjoyed a really good movie

Now six years later, and a few HIFF visits in between -- Suddenly everything has turned VERY STUPID

Same situation as six years ago, no tickets -- so I walk up to the so-called ticket sales window -- someone tells me, oh it's sold out but you can stand in the "Rush Line"

Here I am thinking -- ok, HIFF has now got their shit together -- an online ticketing system -- surely they won't be a pain in the ass like Cinema Paradise was, where we bought tix online, then had to wait in line with people w/o tix to pick up our tix -- then play knock over the people to sit down in an overflowed Varsity

NO, I WAS WRONG

I went online two nights in a row to get tix -- same message, problem with credit card -- ok, so I have a problem with ALL MY CREDIT CARDS -- not the case

So, I rely on the information on the website, that there are tickets --- yeah, okay back to the future, NO TICKETS

Now, here's the other interesting thing, you can buy tix in advance -- but if you don't show up 15 mins before, they will sell your seats DESPITE TAKING YOUR MONEY to people in the rush line

Now, in the Rush Line, lady says ok, we got about 10 seats, you may have to sit in the front -- who is interested in seeing the movie -- about 7 hands go up, including SD and I

Then, the assistant gets distracted counts AGAIN, and now there are 10 people's hands in front of us, including those who CUT THE RUSH LINE

I go, WTF, you just counted us in the 10, how did we go from 7 to 11 --

She counts AGAIN, now we're 9 and 10 -- I'm like WTF, this is the most stupidly coordinated amateurish dumb fucking way to run a railroad

We got into the movie, and there was a good 30 seats left over, 20 in the front two rows -- and I'm like fuck, this has to be the worst system to get people to see movies in the HIFF ever

I must be a dumbass because we're going to try this again next Friday night -- I paid for tickets for a Friday movie -- this after being told, oh you can't buy tickets without an order form for shows that are not SAME DAY --

I have a feeling they just took my money -- and I'm gonna be hella pissed at the will call desk Friday night
