BOT 1: Astacio goes for TEX today -- Andy Phillips getting a start at 1B -- Jeter hits one sharply at Soriano for the opening out -- Bernie hits a grounder to short for out #2 -- Sheff rocks the 0-1... just foul -- he pops up to second to end the inning

TOP 2: Teixeira grounds the first pitch weakly to second, one out -- Mench bloops one in between the CF and RF and the chasing 2B -- ARod drops a routine DP ball, but still gets it to second for the force out -- Johnson gets a K to end the inning (3 for the game)

BOT 2: Matsui hits a hard grounder to short, the SS has trouble with it, throw is high -- Astacio balks Matsui over to second -- ARod grounds to third, and beats it out, runner goes to third on the play

No one out, runners at the corners -- Giambi so far this year 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position this season -- down looking SO, his woes continue --

Posada singles, one run scores, ARod holds at second -- Yanks 1-0
One out, runners at first and second -- Phillips rips one to the gap, one run scores, Posada holds at third -- Yanks, now 2-0

Womack lines one up the middle, one run scores, Phillips holds at third --
Yanks 3-0 -- runners at the corners, one out -- Jeter SF to right, one run scores -- Yanks now 4-0 -- Womack caught stealing to end the inning

TOP 3: Barajas grounds out to first -- DeRosa grounds to third, two out -- Soriano down on strikes for the second time today (4) to retire the side

BOT 3: Teixeira takes away a single from Bernie, one down -- Sheff flies out to right -- Matsui grounds to second for out #3

TOP 4: Matthews Jr. pops up to second -- Johnson takes a comebacker and puts out the runner, two down -- Jeter makes a web gem deep in the hole to gun down the third out

BOT 4: ARod grounds to second, one down -- Giambi pops up to second, two away -- Posada down looking

TOP 5: Another campfire defense situation, Bernie pulls it in, one out -- Jeter gets a routine grounder for out #2 -- Bernie catches a deep fly in center for the third out

TOP 6: Barajas grounds to second -- DeRosa grounds to short, two down -- Soriano singles to left -- Matthews hits an RBI triple, one run scores, looked like Sheff lost the ball -- Yanks 7-1

Johnson gives up a BB, runners now first and third, two down -- Teixeira flies out to left for the third out

BOT 6: Riley in to pitch -- Phillips grounded to short, one away -- Womack flies to center -- Jeter, solo shot to the short porch in right, Yanks 8-1 -- Bernie goes down swinging to end the inning

TOP 7: Mench down on easy grounder to the mound -- Hidalgo down on strikes (5) -- Allen is frozen pizza (6) to retire the side

TOP 9: Flash in for the Unit -- gets Matthews Jr to ground to second, one down -- strikes out the next batter -- with two away, Teixeira waves through for the final out

Yanks now 8-11, ironically the same record at this point last year

Yanks did it today with timely hitting and running the bases to manufacture runs, as opposed to their current style of money ball -- very exciting style of play today for the Interlocking -- let's see if it leads to more of this style of ball
