I really don't know what has possessed me to see each and every pitch and play this season of the Yankees
What seems transparent is that this is being journalled on the date of publishing, well it's not LOL
This is being written in May, when I have made the decision, and a probably silly insane one to journal and log each and every Yankee game this year, and I noticed I had some gaps in it sooo why not create some unnecessary sufferring and enjoyment for myself
And so it begins ...
Inside, impressions of BOS at NYY (1/162)
---
I had initially saw the ESPN A-Team broadcast of the game on the debut of Sunday Night Baseball -- we see the old Yankee David Wells now pitching for the Sawx, against the Bronx debut of the Big Unit Randy Johnson
A sellout at the Stadium, Berra throws the ceremonial pitch ... he of the most WS rings in ML history
Love the ECSTASY OF GOLD before the game, very Metallica, very cool
... just as I say Metallica, we get the Seek and Destroy during RJ's warmup tosses from the mound
TOP 1: Full count to Damon, the payoff pitch grounded to second, one away -- new addition Renteria is frozen pizza, two away (RJ 1) -- Manny also frozen pizza, same location (RJ 2)
BOT 1: Jeter fists a leadoff single -- ARod flies out to center, one away -- Sheffield grounds to Mueller, gets the force at second, Sheff legs it out safely at first
Two down, runner at first -- Sierra chases the outside pitch, down on strikes to end the inning
TOP 2: Ortiz rips one into the right field corner, he is hustling out a double, the throw is slightly offline, he's in there -- Millar hits an absolute bomb to left
Matsui at the wall .... HE MAKES AN AWESOME CATCH TO ROB HIM of a two run shot, who holds Ortiz at second with a good throw as well
One down, runner at second -- Varitek hits a broken bat grounder to short, Ortiz to third on the play, two away -- newcomer Jay Payton singles to left, two out single, scores a run, Red Sox draw first blood, 1-0
Full count to Mueller, he draws a walk -- runners first and second, two out for Bellhorn, he goes down on strikes
BOT 2: Full count to Matsui, the payoff pitch ... falls in for a basehit in left center -- Posada put out on a pop fly to right, one down -- Giambi grounds one through the right side of the infield for a single
Runners at the corners, one out
FINAL: Yankees win, 9-2
Yankees 1-0
5/7 Note:
I had actually watched this game on ESPN, prior to buying the season sub to MLBtv ... well, we haven't looked back, have we?
MLBtv rocks ... even though the Yankees so far haven't
