BOT 1: Maroth going for Detroit tonight -- Jeter works it full, he singles the payoff pitch through the left side and into right -- Cano sacbunts to the pitcher, the runner is advanced to second, one away

Runner at second for Sheffield, he lines a single to left ... Jeter is waved, the throw from White is cut off, one run scores, the Yankees lead 1-0

Runner at first for Matsui, he falls behind 0-2, battles back to full, the payoff ... he grounds to second into a 463 inning ending double play

TOP 2: White goes down swinging, one away -- Young grounds to second, two gone -- Monroe hits a comebacker to Wang, knocks his glove off, he recovers and puts Monroe out, retiring the side

BOT 2: ARod draws a leadoff walk -- Posada grounds to third, the force play is made at second, looked like Infante had a chance to get two at first ... one down -- Giambi lines to a jumping Infante, the attempt to get Posada, beans him on the shoulder ... and rolls away, Posada to second on the play, two down

BOT 3: Tino goes the opposite way for a leadoff single to left -- Jeter drives one to the right center gap, a double for Jeter, and the lead runner to third

Runners at second and third for Cano, he pops the first offering to short, one down -- Sheffield receives the intentional pass, loading the bases for Godzilla

Bases loaded, one out for Matsui, he grounds to first, Pena cuts the runner down at first, two away

Maroth works a full count to ARod, the payoff pitch ... FROZEN PIZZAA!!!, he works his way through the jam unscathed

TOP 4: Wang works it full to Inge, the payoff is lined into center for a leadoff single -- the runner goes, Guillen grounds a single through the right side, the lead runner to third on the play

Runners at the corners, none out for (Once) Pudge, he hits a sacfly to right, one run scores, the game is tied 1-1

Runner now at first, one down for White, he singles to left, runners now first and second, the third Tiger hit of the inning ... Rondell White's hitting streak now stands at 13-games

BOT 4: Posada grounds to third, Inge smothers the ball, no play to first, infield single -- Giambi down swinging at a FC payoff pitch, one down

Posada is picked off first by Maroth ... the pickoff throw was high, Pena jumps and sweeps a tag on Posada trying to get back in, two away -- Bernie grounds to second to end the inning

TOP 6: Infante flies out to left center, one out -- Inge grounds deep in the hole at short, Jeter gloves and jump throws, Inge called safe ... replay: I think the ump got it wrong

BOT 6: Sheffield on with a leadoff walk ... the Yankees have put the leadoff man on 5/6 times, so where's the RUNS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Matsui chops a slow tough grounder right of the mound, the firstbaseman gloves it, but no one covers the bag, an infield single -- runners now first and second

TOP 7: White is plunked by Wang -- Stottlemyre in for a mound visit -- Sturtze and Stanton warming for Yankees

Young hits a comebacker on the first pitch, one down, the runner moves into scoring position on the play -- Monroe lines one to right, it falls in front of Sheffield, runner to third on the play -- Torre out to the mound for Wang

Stanton will pitch for Yankees -- runners at the corners, one down for Martinez who PHs for Pena, he singles through the left side into rightfield, one run scores -- Tigers cut the lead to 4-2

Stanton will only face one, the new pitcher is Sturtze -- he pops up Thames to shallow center, Jeter and Cano converge ... Jeter falls on Cano, and MAKES THE CATCH!!!! holy shirt!!!, two down -- both Cano and Jeter shaken up on the play

Infante hits the first pitch to left ... long, FARRR, and ooh, just foul -- runners first and second, two down -- the 0-2 gets away from Posada, the runners both move up

Runners now second and third, two down for Infante, he gets blown away by the high cheese to retire the side

BOT 7: Martinez stays in the game for the Tigers and will play first -- Tino grounds to second, one gone -- Jeter comes up with a big ovation from the crowd, he grounds to third, two away -- Gordon warms for Yankees -- Cano goes down swinging to end the inning

A very workman-like grind out win by the Yankees today, another quality start by Yankee starting pitching, and very solid work by the pen to secure the victory late -- The Yankees have now guaranteed their SIXTH consecutive series win

Bonderman (DET) and Brown (NYY) will go tomorrow in the series finale
