TOP 1: Pedro Martinez going for the Mets, historically he has a tough time with the Yankees, a 10-10 career record vs. the Interlocking

Womack flies out to right, one away -- Cano grounds to second, two away -- ARod grounds up the middle to short, Reyes bobbles, no play at first, single

Two down, runner at first for Matsui -- Pedro gets in front 0-2, Matsui battles by spoiling pitches, and he rips a liner to right, runner advances to third

Two down, runners now at the corners, full count to Bernie, he draws a walk, the bases are now loaded

Bases loaded for Giambi, playing first for Tino today -- he hits a pop fouled to third, he falls into the crowd ... and MAKES THE PLAY, wow -- Pedro gets out of the jam

BOT 2: Piazza singles up the middle into center -- Runner at first, Mientkiewicz, he grounds to short, the lead runner is forced at second, the relay to first is in the dirt ... the runner is safe, one away

One down, runner at first for Wright, he rips a single to right, the runner moves up to second on the play -- Runners now first and second for Valent, he accidentally checkswings one up the first base line, Giambi puts him out, the runners move up, two away

Runners now second and third, two down for Pedro, he hits a routine grounder to ARod ... it bounces off his glove, and his defensive woes continue, his SEVENTH error of the season ... one run scores, the runners now at the corners, the Mets lead, 1-0

Reyes lines a single to right, one run scores, and the runner advances to third, the Mets lead is now 2-0

Two down, runners first and third for Cairo, first pitch swinging he smashes one right at ARod to end the Mets rally

ARod is killing Pavano during his starts ... shirt, four of ARod's seven errors occurred during his starts

TOP 3: Womack is frozen pizza, one down, and he gets in a few words to the home plate ump on his way back to the pine -- Cano pops foul to third near the third base dugout, two away -- AClod grounds to third to retire the side ... Yankees go down 1-2-3

BOT 3: Cameron grounds to short, one away -- Floyd hits a LOUD solo shot to left center, Mets increase the lead to 3-0 ... Pavano has just been victimized by the long ball this season, that's his ELEVENTH HR allowed

Piazza, first pitch swinging, lines a single to center -- Runner at first, one down for Mientkiewicz, he grounds to second, the runner moves to second on the hit and run, two down -- Runner at second for Wright, he grounds sharply to third to end the inning

TOP 4: Matsui grounds the first pitch to second, one away -- Bernie flies the first pitch to shallow center, two down -- Giambi grounds to first to retire the side

And Pedro is rolling now, retiring the side with just 6 pitches ... another 1-2-3 inning, his third straight

BOT 4: Valent goes down swinging on a checkswing, one away -- Pedro grounds to third again, this time ARod puts him away, two down -- Reyes, quality AB (9 pitches), but pops out to short to end the inning

TOP 5: Flaherty is down looking, one out -- Sanchez flies to right center for out #2 -- Pavano goes down hacking to retire the side

Pedro again puts the Yankees down 1-2-3, he is looking brilliant today ... retiring 13 in a row

BOT 5: Cairo lays down a bunt in front of the mound that dies, Pavano fields, but Cairo beats out the throw, bunt single -- Cameron grounds to second into a 463 double play -- Two down for Floyd, he pops out to short to end the inning

TOP 6: Womack bloops a single to right center -- Runner at first for Cano -- Womack goes, Cano swings to protect him ... Womack in at second, one down

Runner at second for ARod, he lines a single back up the middle and into center, Cameron fields, Womack is waved in, the throw is cut off ... one run scores, the Mets lead is cut to 3-1

Runner at first, one down for Matsui, he hits the first pitch hard, but it is just a flyout to left center, two away -- Bernie hits a broken bat grounder to second to retire the side

BOT 6: Piazza goes down swinging, one away -- Mientkiewicz grounds to second, two down -- Wright hits a two out single to left ... sheesh, the two out single again, it happens too often, one day it will burn the Yankees

Runner at first, two down for Valent -- Wright goes on the first pitch to Valent, the throw is not in time -- Runner now at second for Valent, he will receive the intentional pass to face the weak hitting Pedro

Runners at first and second, two down for Pedro, he goes down uno, dos, adios to retire the side

Pavano now at 83 or so pitches through six innings work, he has settled in

TOP 7: Giambi grounds to first, one down -- Flaherty pops out to second, two away -- Sturtze warming for Yankees, Sierra will PH for Pavano if Sanchez reaches -- Sanchez goes down looking to retire the side ... and another 1-2-3 inning for Pedro

BOT 7: Koo warming for Mets -- Reyes grounds to first, gloved by Giambi, and he wins the footrace to the bag with a footfirst slide to tag the bag, one down -- Sturtze and Stanton warming for Yankees -- full count to Cairo, he hits the payoff pitch and flies out to right center, two down -- full count to Cameron, the payoff pitch ... he flies to right to end the inning

TOP 8: Dae-Sung Koo in to pitch for Mets -- Russ Johnson in to PH for Pavano, he flies to left center for the first out -- full count to Womack, he hits the payoff pitch and routinely grounds to third ... Wright bobbles it and Womack is safe at first on the error -- Runner at first, Sierra will PH for Cano

One out for Sierra, he grounds to second, Reyes does a pirouette after getting the flip from second and drops the ball, all hands are safe

Runners now first and second, one out -- Jeter comes in as a PR for Sierra at first -- the Mets will bring in Hernandez to face ARod

Torre sends the runners on the first pitch to ARod, no throw ... they are both safe on the double steal, now runners at second and third, one out for ARod

ARod pops the 0-1 foul to first near the Mets dugout, two down -- Runners second and third for Matsui, he goes the opposite way lining a single to left, two runs score, and the game is now tied 3-3 ... another quality AB by Matsui

Bernie hits a big shot that bounces off the right field wall, Matsui is trying to score from first, he is waved in ... the throw comes, Matsui slides in safely evading Piazza's tag, one run scores, and Bernie into third on the throw, and the Yankees take their first lead 4-3

Gordon and Stanton warming for Yankees -- Giambi goes down swinging to end the rally

BOT 8: Lots of defensive changes for the Yankees -- Tino in at first, ARod moves over to short, Sanchez moves to second, and Russ Johnson will play third

Stanton now pitching for the Yankees -- full count to Floyd, he hits the payoff to the deepest part of the park, but just flies out to deep center, one away -- Gordon will enter the game to face Piazza R-R -- Piazza hits a high fly out to deep right, two down -- Mientkiewicz flies to center to end the inning

TOP 9: DeJean in to pitch for Mets -- Flaherty grounds to short, one down -- Sanchez hits one to deep short, Reyes fields and the throw is offline, an infield single for Sanchez -- Mo warming for the Yankees -- full count to Russ Johnson, the payoff pitch ... ball 4, he draws a walk, runners now first and second

One down, runners first and second for Womack, he slaps one just over the glove of the SS into left, one run scores, the other runner advances to second, the Yankees extend the lead to 5-3

Wang joins Mo throwing in the pen -- Tino grounds to second, the force play is made at second, no throw made to first, two away and the lead runner advances to third on the play

Runners now at the corners for ARod, he falls behind early in the count but works a walk -- the bases are loaded with two down -- DeJean gets the hook

What was essentially a nine game road trip is over, very successful for the Yankees, 7-2 on the trip

Yankees win the series, 2 games to 1 -- It wasn't a very pretty series for both teams

Yankees get a day off before starting their home series vs. Detroit on Tuesday, hopefully the extra day of rest can help with the injuries in the lineup. Projected starters are Ledezma for DET and Muss for the Yankees
