BOT 1: Leiter goes for NY -- Damon goes down swinging, one away -- full count to Renteria, he battles and finally draws a walk -- Ortiz goes down swinging, two down -- Manny softly lines to short to end the inning

Ortiz flies to left ... Matsui converges on it near the jutting out left field seats, but chooses to live rather than catch it and get blasted by the wall ... it falls just inside the line, a Fenway double that scores one -- Yankees lead is cut to 4-1

ARod just crushes the 1-0 to left ... OVER the Monster and out to the street below, a two out solo shot, the Yankees now lead 5-1

Wallace out to confer -- Embree warms for BOS, Gordon for NY -- Matsui goes down swinging to end the two out rally

BOT 8: Sturtze continues, Franklin and Gordon warm for NY -- Cora lines to short ... A GREAT LEAPING GRAB by Jeter, WOW!, one down -- Damon lines one out to the bullpen in right center ... Sheffield chasing it down ... it drops in, Sheffield awkwardly lands on the fence ... Damon in with a double, and keeps his hitting streak alive

Trainers out to check on Sheffield, he will stay in -- Torre out to get the ball, Gordon will pitch for NY -- Renteria pops to short, two away -- Ortiz pops to first to end the inning

TOP 9: Wakefield going for the CG -- Posada pops the first pitch foult to first, one away -- Giambi pops up foul ... and the catch is made by Wakefield, now that is unusual! the pitcher getting a foul pop, two down -- Franklin warms for NY -- Bernie flies to left to retire the side ... Wakefield completes the game but will need a lot of offensive help to get the win

BOT 9: Gordon continues -- Manny just blasts one to deep center over the edge of the Monster, a leadoff solo shot -- the Yankees lead is cut to 5-2

Mo warms for NY -- Millar works it full and draws a walk, that will be all for Flash -- Mo in to close for Yankees

Nixon grounds to second, Cano fields, turns to start a double play ... BUT throws it into leftfield (GAKK!!!) -- runners now at the corners for Varitek, who is PH for Mirabelli, he grounds a single through to right, another run scores -- the score is now NY 5-3

Nervous time now for Yankees, as the Sawx are mounting a furious comeback here -- Mueller bloops one to right ... IT WILL FALL IN, they hold the runner at third, the sacks are now packed WITH NO ONE OUT .... psshhh

Cora grounds to third ... ARod gloves and guns a perfect strike to Posada for one ... who guns another strike to Giambi for TWO!!! what clutch defense by the Yankees, WOW!!!!, an unusual 523 double play, two away

The story today is how Al Leiter revived himself in pinstripes and shut down the Red Sox at Fenway for 6 1/3 -- The bullpen looked shaky at the end, but righted itself enough to get the Yankees a series win at Boston 3-1
