I don't know the answer to your fundamental question about art
I just thought that was an interesting article to look at because it gives straightforward answers to most people's issues with the CD
But yeah, ultimately liking or hating something is purely up to you ... just like your ebay example of: trash is treasure and treasure is trash, depends on the person

interesting reading. Again I ask quite possibly the most asked question in the world: "What is Art?"
Who am I to criticize what I dont understand... and who am I to say what is the right way or wrong way to play an instument or edit a song.
The artist in the case of St. Anger must have been Bob Rock more than Metallica in my opinion. The entire aura and composition of the songs derived from Rocks click of his mouse. Less is more? Sometimes?
But sometimes Crap is Crap? Yes and no. Depends on who's crap it is and who wants it. Look at eBay. Go figure.
Like St. Anger? More power to ya. Hate St. Anger? Wait till the next album and continue to listen to your Metallica library and other rareities.
