Ok, by now you have heard the news that A-Rod (THE BEST PLAYER IN THE GAME, no argument here) is the newest member of the Yankees, being traded from Texas for the inconsistent, enigmatic, but supremely talented Alfonso Soriano -- and everyone's favorite term "the player to be named later"
I'm a diehard fan of the interlocking NY -- but even I must say that this is getting pretty ridiculous -- $200M dollar payroll, that should say it all -- actually, the fact that the Yankees have been the highest payroll the past three years (or more?) indicates something to me
Money doesn't win championships -- pitching does
Sure, the Yanks dumped a lot of older pitchers -- but I can't really say that the ones they picked up are a step up or pessimistically are a lateral or side step -- and losing Andy Pettite and Roger probably will negatively affect clubhouse leadership
